How to get contacts from a damaged phone (broke and won't turn on!)

User question

Hello.

Alexander tell me with advice ... Yesterday the phone went off and does not turn on anymore. Apparently everything is broken.

I don't need the device itself, but I would like to get some data from it: first of all, contacts. How can I do that? (I don't really want to contact the service, because they will break a tidy sum).

Hello.

Nobody will give you guarantees that you will get something from it (even the service, although it has more chances). Moreover, it is not clear from the description what happened to this device (maybe there is nothing "alive" inside already ...).

But I will advise something below, perhaps it will somehow help you (and other users). 👌

What can be done to restore contacts

👉 Option 1: check your Google profile

Web page: //contacts.google.com/

If you had a modern smartphone as a phone, then most likely you had a profile on Google (and it is likely that contacts were synchronized with its services).

Therefore, try to go to the page Google contacts (link above) and see if there is something in there. In my case (when I ran into something similar), everything was in place. 👌

Google Contacts

By the way, phones Samsung, Huawei and a number of other brands of devices may have their own add. profiles (besides Google). If you registered during the initial setup of the phone (after purchasing it), then most likely the contacts were saved there ...

👉 Option 2: check the SIM card

Some contacts may have been saved on the SIM card. Try to take it out of your broken phone and connect it to a working one. Then go to the phone book and use the function import .

It is possible that a number of contacts will appear on the screen. 😉

👉 Option 3: see details

As far as I know, most operators can order for free detailing bills for the last year - and in it you will be able to find the numbers you called most often (which is what we need).

For example, for Megafon - just open your personal account and go to the section "Costs, replenishment and detailing" .

Detailing

Of course, many will now ask me: "And what to do with these numbers? No one knows which ones!"

It's easy to fix: just use the SBER-online service (most people have an SBER account), and try to make a transfer to someone by phone number. BEAT in the confirmation window will show you the short initials of the full name (if you often called this person, you will immediately find out who it is).

Translation to the client SBERA (personal information is filled in)

Of course, the method is not ideal - but after sitting for half an hour, it is quite possible to restore the main contact list.

👉 Option 4: try to view contacts from computer

If your phone does not display anything on the screen or the touchscreen does not work (i.e. your taps on the screen have no effect) - try connecting the device to a computer / laptop using a USB cable and use the application MyPhoneExplorer .

The fact is that, despite the screen, the phone itself is probably in good working order and it is still possible to "pull out" part of the data from it. Well, the program on the PCMyPhoneExplorer will be able to show us a list of contacts. 👌

👉 Option 5: contact the service

If the above tips did not work (and you do not have a backup), try to contact any specialist. service (if there is no such thing in your city, then this is not the biggest problem now, since some companies have the possibility of courier delivery).

In one of my last post, I considered the most interesting companies that are engaged in information recovery (a number of them can help with phones). Link below.
