How to update browser, player, antivirus and other programs in Windows automatically

Good day!

On Android, all installed applications are periodically updated (usually when the phone is connected to a Wi-Fi network) - in Windows, there is no such thing ... 👀

This is probably why many users have had "old" programs for years (with one side, it seems, if it works, you can leave it alone; from the other - new software versions work more stable; a number of errors have been fixed in them; added new features that will speed up your productivity).

In this humble note, I wanted to offer a small utility that easily and quickly solves this problem - i.e. it will itself find new versions of programs (browsers, players, antivirus, etc.) and update them (like Google Play on Android).

Auto-update programs

And so, this utility is IObit Software Updater. After installation, it will quickly find and learn everything about all programs (available on your system), determine their versions and compare them with the newest ones. Then it will tell you which of the programs should be updated and which ones should be left alone ...

Specialist. utility for updating and installing programs. It features a simple interface, support for thousands of different software, translated into Russian, compatible with Windows 7/8/10.

Main advantages:

  • the utility works quietly and quickly (you are required to agree once a month to install updates if they are required);
  • it is possible to roll back to previous versions of programs (Software Updater makes backups with each operation);
  • the utility has a directory of programs: browsers, multimedia, antiviruses, etc. (in 1 click you can install any of them);
  • when updating the software, no windows pop up (i.e. it is unnecessary to specify the installation location for each updated program, whether to create a shortcut, etc.).

I'll show you the update process with a simple example.

After installing and launching IObit Software Updater, you will be presented with a list of installed programs. All of them will be divided into several groups: those that do not need updating, and those for which they were found.

Please note that next to each program, the current version is indicated, and the one to which it can be updated.

You can update both all programs at once (check the boxes), or one specific one (for example, I chose Gom Player, see the screenshot below 👇).

The update process itself is standard:

  1. the installation files of the programs are loaded first;
  2. then a backup copy is made (backup). If something does not work correctly, you can roll back to the previous version;
  3. then, installation. Please note that during this whole process you do not have any windows with questions - everything is automated (which is very convenient).

Update example - no extra pop-ups, just a process!

By the way, the program icon on the desktop is also quite indicative: it displays the number of programs that need to be updated. Therefore, without even launching the utility, you will always know what is there for updates ...

The icon on the desktop will always tell you how much software needs to be updated!

IObit Software Updater also has a built-in program catalog... To open it, just click on the "star" in the menu on the left. Everything you need is close at hand: browsers, multimedia, communication, security (antiviruses, firewalls), etc.

Software for auto-installation

Installing programs is identical to updating: check the boxes that you need and start the process. The screen is below.

👉 If something went wrong ...

IObit Software Updater, as mentioned above, has a built-in backup system. When you update something, a backup is made.

If something doesn't suit you, just go to the menu "Recovery" , then select the desired backup (focusing on the date) and start the restore procedure ...

If something went wrong - restore

Roll back to the previous version

That's all for today, good luck!
