How to disable checking and fixing errors when connecting flash drives and memory cards to the computer (disable autorun!)

Good day everyone!

Recently I "fumbled" with one flash drive (I had to get a number of files from it) and Windows very persistently suggested that I check it and fix errors (of course, every time I connected, I had to knock around and kindly refuse this offer (otherwise the data could be overwritten .. .)).

Actually, in this small note I decided to give a simple way to disable such a check (and indeed autorun a flash drive). By the way, it is recommended to do this also from the point of view of security - after all, if the flash drive is infected with a virus, then it will not be launched automatically (which is no longer a bad thing) ...

Note that the recommendations below are relevant for Windows 7/8/10. 👌

Disable auto-start and check drives

👉 Option 1

First you need open the service settings window. To do this, you need to press Win + R (to bring up the menu "Run" ) and enter the command services.msc ... By the way, if you have Windows 10 - "services" can be found through the search. 👇

Opening services - services.msc (universal method)

Search - Services (Windows 10)

Next, among the list of services, you need to find and open "Determination of enclosure hardware" (it provides notifications for auto-start events).

Determination of enclosure hardware

After we put the startup type in the mode "Disabled" and stop the service.

Stopping the service

Next, you need to restart your PC / laptop for the changes to take effect. Now messages about the need to check and correct errors should not appear! 👌

Alternative way

By the way, you can disable this service in another way ... Click also Win + R, and use the command msconfig ... After, in the list of services find "Determination of enclosure hardware" and uncheck it. Settings save and restart PC ...

👉 Option 2

If for some reason you cannot enter the services (or suddenly something else ...) - this issue can be resolved with the help of specials. antivirus 👉 utility AVZ. She, by the way, will be able to help, even if your PC was infected with viruses and some of the capabilities in Windows were blocked (or disabled).

After starting AVZ - go to the menu "File / Troubleshooter" .

Troubleshooting Wizard (AVZ)

Next, note that you are interested in all system problems and scan (the "Start" button). In the problems found, disable auto-start from HDD, network drives, flash drives, etc. 👇

AVZ will automatically change all system settings and clean your system from ads and viruses (if they hinder ...).

Found issues / Allowed autorun / AVZ

After this check, it is recommended to restart the PC. In general, the problem should be solved on this. 👌
