Browser selection for Windows (in 2017)

Good hour everyone!

This is my first article on this blog and in it (on the eve of the new year) I decided to touch upon the issues of browsers (of which there are always many) ...

In general, a web browser is perhaps the most popular program on any computer connected to the Internet. Without it, you can no longer imagine reading sites, listening to music, or watching videos on the network.

Of course, your convenience and speed of work depends on the correct browser. I wanted to tell you more about the choice of a browser ...

Note: the information is relevant for Windows OS: XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10. If you have something to supplement me, I will be glad to see constructive comments on this post.

13 best browsers for Windows (2017)

Remark: the list below is not a panacea ... The speed of operation of different browsers on different computers / laptops can vary significantly (this is me, if Firefox slows down for someone - this does not mean that this browser is slow on another for sure the same PC (and with this I often come across ))!

1) Google Chrome

One of the most popular browsers today! It would be weird if I didn't put it first ☺.

Main advantages:

Fast: according to many tests and measurements, this browser is considered one of the fastest. Pages are loaded just instantly (however, on weak computers - the effect can be directly proportional);
Convenient bookmarks bar (just 1-2 clicks of the mouse, and you went to the desired site);
A huge variety of plugins: there are hundreds of all kinds of add-ons that can force your browser to perform a wide variety of tasks (for example, find and save all pictures on a web page in a separate folder);
Convenient search: the ability to search directly through the address bar;
Support for all popular OS Windows 10 / 8.1 / 8/7 64-bit;
A bunch of covers that will satisfy even the most sophisticated taste ...

2) Yandex. Browser

Main advantages:

Security: recently, Internet payments have become popular: you can quickly pay for an apartment, make purchases, using a card and online banking. Yandex browser has made quite a lot of progress in terms of security and protection of online purchases!
Turbo mode - speeds up the loading of pages on a slow Internet. It also allows you to open sites that are not available in your country. In general, a mega handy thing;
Search in the address bar;
A wide variety of background pictures;
Analyzer of your tastes: the browser tries to show you news and various offers based on your preferences.

Of the minuses, I would single out: the browser starts to slow down on weak machines when opening several tabs. Well, sometimes, he is rather annoying with "suggestions" (for example, to change the start page) ...

3) Firefox (Fox)

If translated from English - then this browser sounds like a "fiery fox". In my opinion, it is a very, very good browser that creates good competition for the WebKit and Blink engines (on which many browsers are built, such as Chrome).

Main advantages:

Plugins and Add-ons: I'm not afraid to say that this browser has more add-ons than any other! You can choose a plug-in for almost any task: download videos, pictures, weather forecast, reminders, etc.;
Speed of work: This browser is quite rivaled in speed of work with any other. True, it is worth noting that, having installed a dozen or two plugins, the browser loses in speed;
Security: the browser perfectly protects all your passwords and logins to access various sites;
Sidebar: a very convenient sidebar for the browser - by pressing the Ctrl + B buttons, you instantly get access to all your bookmarks (edit, delete, etc. - everything is very fast).

4) Opera

Once Opera was one of the most popular browsers, now its popularity has dropped significantly (many people associate the change of the engine, it happened with the 12th version).

However, the browser has a number of advantages:

The "Turbo" function first appeared in this particular browser. The essence of the function is that your traffic goes through the browser server and is thereby compressed. If you have a slow Internet or there is no connection with any server (for example, you were blocked there), then using this function you can view it);
Ad blocker: Opera now has a built-in ad blocker. On the one hand, this is a plus, on the other, you may not see some elements of sites that the add-on will consider as advertising (to distinguish a site element from an advertisement - sometimes even a person is not easy, what can we say about scripts ...);
Battery saver: If you are using a laptop or tablet, then this browser will come in handy. The browser has a special module that optimizes the needs of the browser.

5) Microsoft Edge

New creation from Microsoft. I must tell you that even in this "raw" form, this browser makes an impression. The browser is available only to owners of Windows 10.

Advantages:

Reading function: removes all unnecessary from the screen and allows you to quickly and conveniently read and perceive information from the site;
you can "postpone" tabs;
Speed of work: some pages of the site open literally instantly! Others sometimes freeze, I associate this with a flaw in the browser;
Provision Center: quickly allows you to access bookmarks, favorites, downloaded files, etc. No need to search for anything else;
Notes: you can take notes in the browser (very convenient so as not to forget something).

The main disadvantage: some rare elements of sites, some web pages are displayed incorrectly in the browser. Roofing felts these pages are not optimized for the browser, or because of the "dampness" of the browser itself ...

6) Internet Explorer

Despite the fact that this browser does not have any advantages over the others, a fairly large number of users use it.

The point here, in my opinion, is a matter of habit: it is difficult to rebuild when everything is "at hand" in the browser.

Well, besides, it comes bundled with Windows - which means that everyone who reinstalls the OS will run it at least to download and install another browser.

7) Maxthon

Cloud browser Maxthon is built on two engines at once: WebKit and Trident. Thanks to this, the browser has a number of advantages:

The speed is comparable to Chrome!
Cloud: all bookmarks, passwords, forms, etc. are synchronized in the cloud, thanks to which you can easily access everything cherished, for example, on Android;
Reading mode: makes the page so that it is very easy and convenient to read (the browser removes ads, makes the necessary highlighting, you can adjust the font, etc.);
Ad hunter: just one click and you can look at sites without ads;
Autocomplete: the browser remembers the forms that you filled out earlier on this site. Next time, he will fill in the form himself (i.e., you do not need to enter the password 100 times to access - the browser will do the work for you);
Screenshots: the browser allows you to make a window screen in just a couple of clicks;
Security: Provides a fairly high degree of confidentiality.

8) UC Browser

The most popular browser for phones has become available for a regular computer / laptop.

Distinctive features:

Quite high speed of loading pages: thanks to specials. optimization and compression algorithms that have been (and are used) in phone browsers;
Download manager: you can download dozens of files at the same time, and you will not lose anything and will not search: "where did it load ...";
You can search in different search engines;
Browser design: you can set it yourself! A wide variety of themes, backgrounds, fonts, etc .;
Built-in ad blocker;
Private mode: the browser will not remember the history of the sites you visited.

And everything seems to be fine: the browser works fine on the phone, it works on the PC, but still I cannot recommend it as the main one for Windows (some sites are scattered in it) ...

9) SlimBrowser

A relatively young browser, but to be honest, it is already impressive.

Main advantages:

High speed of work: the browser opens Internet pages very quickly, downloads videos and photos;
Low system requirements: the browser works quite well even on computers that are rather weak by modern standards;
A large number of functions: available without any plugins, already built into the main modules of the browser itself. Thanks to this, you do not need to search for something, download, configure - everything already works out of the box (weather forecast, currency, etc.);
High automation: the browser remembers forms, passwords, etc. is studying. Thanks to this, the next time you visit the site, you will spend much less time. the browser will do everything for you (note: fills in the forms);
Security: blocking intrusive windows, confidential storage of your passwords and logins to access various sites;
Easy integration with popular sites: Twitter, Google Plus, Blogger, WordPress, Gmail, Hotmail, etc.

Frankly, my main browser is Firefox, and the second (in reserve ) - SlimBrowser. And, perhaps soon, it will become the main ...

10) TOR Browsers

This browser is built on Firefox. And recently, its popularity has only grown. The fact is that on the network it allows you to remain completely anonymous, because you work through a proxy (the browser connects to them automatically, you do not need to search for anything).

Thanks to this, for example, you can go to sites on which the administrator has blocked you.

In general, this is perhaps its main advantage (the rest of the goodies in it are implemented, in my opinion, poorly).

11) Amigo

Browser from Mail.ru! And I must tell you that if at first it caused only negative emotions, now it has a number of interesting advantages:

Entertainment Collections: If you are a game lover, I recommend giving this browser a try! It contains popular games and sites so that you can always quickly and easily access them;
Quick action panel: you can quickly create a bookmark and send it to a friend (convenient!);
Security: according to the assurances of the developers, they use special algorithms to protect against malicious sites and software;
Tab manager: will make life easier for those who open 30-40 tabs at once and cannot then find the one they need;
Relatively high speed of work.

Cons: along with the browser, a game center from Mail.ru is often installed (not everyone needs it and sometimes annoying, unless you are, of course, a fan of games).

12) CocCoc

Vietnamese browser based on the source code of the Chromium project (which is why it is very similar to Google Chrome).

Nevertheless, I can't say that the Vietnamese just copied the code, they significantly worked on it:

Video download: the browser can capture streaming video and audio and download it to your hard drive;
Each tab in the browser is a separate process, if the page freezes, then this particular tab will be closed, and not the entire browser as a whole;
Add-ons: Supports almost all add-ons (99.9%) that Chrome supports;
Good HTML 5 support (many browsers have problems with this ...);
Built-in task manager in the browser (you can close any process that will greatly slow down your work).

Of the minuses: sometimes there are problems with the Russian language (although the program supports it!).

13) Rambler Browser

This browser will be very convenient for those people who want to keep abreast of all the important news in the world and business. The browser is easy to customize: you can select those sections and the news topics that interest you.

Also, in the top bar of the browser, you will always see incoming mail, weather, currency (widgets are very easy to customize).The browser will remember the most visited sites by you and will offer them on the start page when you open the program.

In general, a solid browser for those who do not chase after all sorts of "goodies", but are used to doing business ...
