What does the phone spend the Internet on? How to limit mobile internet

Greetings to all!

It's good when both the PC and the phone use a tariff with full unlimited traffic - you don't have to think about anything at all ... 👌

However, not everyone has such a "luxury" (and lately, operators have again begun to offer limited tariffs ... Crisis? ..). Well, the traffic has an unpleasant feature - it "leaks" too quickly somewhere ...

Actually, if you noticed that the mobile Internet somehow painfully ended quickly (it's even worse if an SMS came from the operator that an additional package was provided at such a rate ...) - it's time to see what the phone spends the Internet on, which applications are the most voracious.

Perhaps it is worth deleting a number of applications and setting a traffic limit (so as not to accidentally "buy" Internet packages for overpricing ...).

Where is the Internet "spent"

👉 Option 1

If you have a modern version of Android (5.0 ÷ 10.0), then in the arsenal of standard functions of the system there is a module responsible for controlling the mobile Internet (of course, by default there are no restrictions in it ...).

To open these options: go to phone settings in the section "Connections -> Data Usage" (relevant for Android 10.0; in previous versions: "Settings -> Wireless networks -> Data transfer -> Select SIM-card -> Traffic estimation").

Settings - Data Usage (Android 10.0)

In my case, about 135 MB was used (note: Wi-Fi is actively used + tariffication "zeroed" recently 😉).

To find out which applications and how many MB "spent": you need to open the tab "Mobile data usage" . 👇

The use of mobile data - what are the Internet MB spent on?

In my example, the main "waste" of the Internet is Google Play Market (application updates). In its settings, you can put a restriction on prohibiting updates without a Wi-Fi connection ...

Play Market settings

By the way, in the statistics it is also possible to see which applications are using Wi-Fi traffic (although, usually, most of them have unlimited and therefore not very interesting ...).

Wi-Fi detail

In the settings in the section "Connections / Tariffication period and limit" on Android, you can set a limit on the use of mobile Internet. For example, in my case, the limit is set to 5 GB (see the screenshot below 👇).

👉 Option 2

If there are "problems" with the standard Android function of limitation and control, you can use third-party applications. In this regard, I am impressed by 👉 My Data Manager (link to the Play Market).

After installing it, it will automatically start monitoring and controlling all applications and counting how many MB has "eaten".

Mobile Internet Statistics

By the way, both Wi-Fi traffic and roaming are considered by default.

Wi-Fi statistics

Well, one of the most important options in the settings is the tab "My plan" ... It is in it that you can set the data limit in GB, billing cycle, dates, etc. This "thing" will allow you to avoid overspending of Internet traffic (and, as a result, unnecessary expenses for "expensive" additional packages ... 👌).

👉 Option 3

In your personal account (or application) from your mobile operator, you can get a lot of information about both connected services and traffic.

For example, Megafon shows both minutes, and SMS, and the Internet: how much is on the current tariff, and how much is left.

How much traffic is left / Personal account in Megafon

In your personal account, of course, it is still impossible to find out which applications "ate" the most traffic, but you can see in detail all connected services, applications that have unlimited access (see.the screen below is for all messengers: Viber, Telegram, etc.).

Internet tariff plan

By the way, if you run out of traffic, but you still need Internet access, it is much cheaper to order an additional manually from the operator. traffic, rather than overpay for packages presented in automatic mode ... (an order of magnitude difference ... 👌)
