5 ways to create PDF files

Good day!

Probably not for me to tell you about the advantages of the PDF format (which is supported by any reader and any modern device ✔).

It is much more convenient than many other formats for various documents, texts, even in some cases for drawings and pictures!

Actually, in this article I wanted to show several of the most relevant ways to quickly create such a file (5 different options are considered!). After all, we all, at least from time to time, have to deal with the office routine.

So...

👉 Remark!

By the way, for those who read a lot of e-books, I want to recommend several readers for smartphones and PCs.

How to create a PDF file

👉 1) In Microsoft Word (any text or document)

Because Word is installed on the vast majority of computers, then you should start with it ...

In general, in the modern version of Word (and now 2019 is relevant), all PDF creation comes down to simply saving the document.

For example, you typed some text (well, or just opened some document), then just select from the menu "File / save as ..." (see the screen below 👇).

Save as...

Next, specify the folder where you want to save, and select the "PDF (* .pdf)" file type, as shown in the screenshot below. Click the button "Save" .

Choosing the desired format when saving the document

Then Word will "think" for a while (depending on the type and size of the source file) and your file will be ready!

Simple, fast and easy way ... 👌

👉 2) In the Browser (you can save any web page to PDF)

Often, when on the Internet you come across the necessary web page and would like to save it not just to bookmarks, but to make a full-fledged document out of it (which will then be thoughtfully read or worked closely with). Actually, PDF is great for this!

And so, in any browser there is a print function: usually, you just need to press the universal keyboard shortcut Ctrl + P (you can select this function in the menu).

Ctrl + P - send a page to print (works in any browser)

Next, in the printer column, click the button "Change" (i.e. choose your own printer for printing). Several printers will be available to you, including:

  1. "Save as PDF" is what we need, only this option is not available in all browsers;
  2. "Microsoft Print to PDF" - and here it is in almost all modern systems and browsers.

Choosing one of the two options, you just have to specify the disk space to save the web page in PDF.

I have another blog post on this topic. There are 3 more ways to save a web page to PDF.

👉 3) In spec. programs (ABBYY Fine Reader, Foxit Reader)

For the PDF format, hundreds (if not thousands) of various specialized programs have been released that allow you to read, edit, and modify them. In this article I would like to recommend a couple of them:

  1. Foxit Reader is a lightweight PDF reader. Allows you to conveniently view files of this format, make bookmarks, edit, etc. According to various tests, the program works an order of magnitude faster than the official Acrobat Reader;
  2. ABBYY Fine Reader is the most convenient program for scanning documents (for ten years there has been no more convenient program for working with a scanner ...).

    In its latest versions, the developers have built in convenient tools for working with PDF: you can not only save current scanned documents in this format, but also convert all previously saved documents to it! One of the drawbacks is that the program is paid (but there is a trial version).

*

And so, first I will consider Foxit Reader, tk. it's free. During installation, pay attention to two checkboxes that need to be checked:

  1. "shell extension for conversion ...";
  2. "Word plugin". An example is shown below. 👇

Custom installation

Actually, now you will have specials in the program itself, on the toolbar. button "From file" - it can be used to convert many other documents to PDF.

Foxit Main Socket

In addition, it is not even necessary to open Foxit Reader itself - just right-click on the file (say Word), and select "Convert to DPF in Foxit Reader" (see screenshot below 👇).

Convert to PDF

As for ABBYY Fine Reader, everything is so simple here that, probably, there are no comments at all: after starting the program, it automatically offers to select several options for scanning and converting (two of them are highlighted in the screenshot below ...).

👉 4) Save multiple images as 1 PDF file

There are dozens of ways to accomplish this task. Here I will recommend one of the fastest and most convenient (in my humble opinion). To execute it, you need one small program - XnView.

*

XnView

Website: //www.xnview.com/

An excellent image viewer (in general, the program supports about 500 different media formats - that is, you can open almost everything in it ...).

I note that in its arsenal there are convenient converters, batch renaming of files, there are dozens of plugins that solve a wide variety of tasks. In general, I definitely recommend to meet you!

*

Let's move on to creating the PDF directly:

  1. download and run the program (you can do this from the official website, the program is free. The link was given just above);
  2. then click on "Create / Multipage file ..." (see example below).

Multi-page file

In the next step, you need to:

  1. add all the pictures that you want to see in PDF ("add" button);
  2. then specify the format of saving "Portable Document Format" , folder, and name the file;
  3. push the button "Create" .

Choosing the "Portable Document Format"

The program works very quickly: the required file will appear in just a few seconds (see example below 👇).

The document is ready ...

👉 Supplement!

If you are interested in alternative viewers of pictures and media files for Windows, I recommend that you familiarize yourself with this collection.

👉 5) Converting from other formats

Despite the fact that above I have already partially given the methods of converting (in the same Word, Fine Reader, Foxit Reader), here I want to recommend one of my previous articles on this issue.

The article shows 10 ways (using programs and online services) how you can convert almost any PDF file to Word format. I think this little article will be useful to many in office work.

And that's all for me for now ...

If someone knows more convenient ways - add in the comments!

Good luck to all!
