Error module kernelbase.dll when starting games and programs. What to do?

User question

Hello.

Please help with one problem. When I try to start PUBG, FIFA and some other games, I get the error "AppCrash - kernelbase.dll module error ...".

I tried to reboot and reinstall games, cleaned the system from garbage, downloaded this file from the Internet, checked it with an antivirus - and nothing!

Is there anything you can do? (my OS is Windows 7, 64 bit, 12 GB RAM, 1000 GB HDD (500 free), Nvidia 1050 Ti)

Hello.

Kernelbase.dll — it is a system file responsible for the interaction of various libraries with each other. As a rule, errors referring to it indicate that the integrity of your OS files has been compromised (for example, due to a virus infection, improper shutdown of the PC, or accidental deletion of "something useful" ...).

I note right away that it is far from always possible to restore the system's performance without reinstalling it. Nevertheless, in a number of cases (by resorting to certain steps) - this problem can be eliminated! Actually, we will dwell on them ...

How to Fix Module kernelbase.dll Errors

STEP 1

And so, the first thing I recommend is to check the Windows OS for viruses (just if the system is infected - no matter how much we restore it, the virus will spoil system files over and over again).

Moreover, spend extra. check, even if you already have an antivirus installed on your Windows OS (fortunately, the online versions allow you to run them in parallel ...).

STEP 2

Windows has a special. a tool that allows you to check the integrity of system files (and in some cases restore them).

To run such a check, you must:

  1. open a command prompt as administrator (to do this, you can call the task manager (Ctrl + Alt + Del) and use the command CMD) ;

Run the command line as administrator

  2. then you should enter the command sfc / scannow and press Enter. After that, the check will start - as a rule, it takes 5-10 minutes. time.

    Checking file integrity - scannow

  3. after rechecking - try again to run the problematic application: does an error pop up? ..

STEP 3

The next step is to check the current installed drivers and system libraries for NET Framework, DirectX, Visual C ++, etc. You can do this in auto mode using the Driver Booster utility (just after rechecking - tick the boxes that affect the games and update them ...).

STEP 4

Try to resolve the error related to kernelbase.dll can be done using Windows Restore (although not all systems have auto-create restore points enabled ...). But still...

To view all points for system rollback: press the combination Win + R (the Run window will appear) and use the commandrstrui... See screenshot below. 👇

Viewing a list of breakpoints - rstrui command

After, put the switch in the mode "Choose another restore point" and press the button "Further" .

Choose a different restore point

Then check the box Show other restore points - and the whole list will appear before you.

See if there is a date in this list on which your Windows OS worked as expected (correct). If so, select it and agree to roll back the system (your documents and files will not be affected. But it is possible that this will affect some of the recently installed programs, drivers, system files ...).

STEP 5

Updating the OS can be a very good solution (fortunately, for this, it is enough to open the Windows Control Center and click the "Check for Updates" button. See the example below).

Windows Update

STEP 6

If all of the above did not help you, I would advise you to reinstall Windows (you can, of course, try to find this kernelbase.dll file on some third-party resources - however, there is a high probability of catching a virus, or finally "killing" the system ...) ...

By the way, in this regard, I am impressed by the version of Windows 10 LTSC in which there is nothing superfluous (it comes without the Store, Edge, Cortana, OneDrive, etc.). In addition to this, it is rarely updated and does not interfere with these norms. work (moreover, this is the official version of the OS, available for download from the Microsoft website).

PS

By the way, if the AppCrash error continued to crash, but the "culprit" was not kernelbase.dll, and something else - I recommend that you familiarize yourself with one of my past notes. 👇

If you managed to fix the error - write at least a few words in the comments: what helped you (maybe it will "save" someone else ...).

That's it for now. See you later...!
