How to connect a Bluetooth headset to an Android phone

Good time!

Bluetooth headsets have recently become very popular (it's no joke to say that today Bluetooth is supported by almost all smartphones and laptops, moreover, even in the budget category).

It would seem a simple multimedia piece, however, it is it that allows you to be in touch and not take your hands while driving; helps not to be distracted during training; negotiate in the winter, when the phone could be quickly discharged in the cold.

Today's article will be in the form of step-by-step instructions for connecting such a Bluetooth headset to an Android phone (some points may not be so obvious to an inexperienced user). I hope that by going through it, you can easily configure and understand everything ...

Bluetooth headset connection: highlights

❶

STEP 1: charge your headset

I will still assume that you have a new headset - and it, as a rule, is discharged. In addition, if the battery is not used for a long time, it loses its charge (I mean, the headphones could be discharged to zero!).

Plug in the headset for charging

❷

STEP 2: turn on the headset and put it into pairing mode

After charging, turn on the headset and put it in pairing ... As a rule, for this you need to hold the power button for a few seconds. (or the call answer button - depending on the headset model) .

If the headset has entered pairing mode, you will see how the LED (indicator) on its body began to blink: blue-red - blue-red ... (colors may vary in some cases)

❸

STEP 3: turn on the Bluetooth module in your phone and start searching for devices

To enable Bluetooth, go to the phone settings in the section "Device / Bluetooth connection" (for Android 8.0).

Settings - device connection - Bluetooth

Then move the slider to the mode "On" - the device should start looking for nearby devices (place the headphones next to the phone).

Ideally, in just a few seconds, you will see your headset model among the found Bluetooth devices. It remains to click on it and start the pairing process.

❹

(not necessary) STEP 4: enter the PIN code if needed to connect the headset

In many cases, the headset will pair with your phone automatically and you do not need to enter anything.

However, there are some models of headphones, when connected, you need to enter a PIN code (a special window with a line for entering will appear on the phone):

  1. The PIN code, as a rule, is always indicated on the packaging (in the brief instructions) of the headphones (headset);
  2. If the PIN code is not specified in the instructions for the headset, try the most popular options: 0000, 1234, 9999, 0001, 1111.

I would like to note that in some cases it is possible not to enter anything at all into the window with the PIN code and continue the connection (and, of course, the phone is paired with the headset).

STEP 5: You can start using your headset ...

Ideally, that's all - after pairing, you can start using the headset ...

If suddenly you failed to connect (for example, an error occurred during the pairing process), repeat steps 2 ÷ 4 again. Note that it is recommended to put the headphones closer to the phone while searching for them (not more than a meter, but rather close!).

Why a smartphone may not see or connect to a Bluetooth headset

1) Headset is discharged (or not turned on)

This is one of the most popular reasons (especially, many are "screwed up" with new devices that go to zero discharged - and the user believes that this is not so (or that the device is generally broken)).

Pay attention to the indicator: when the headset is turned on - it should be lit (red / blue). See screenshot below. Almost all headsets are equipped with similar indicators.

2) The headset was paired with another phone

If you took a headset that worked with another phone (and to which it was connected in automatic mode), it may happen that the pairing function will be disabled immediately after turning on the device.

Try to start pairing manually: hold the power button until the blue-red indicator starts blinking.

3) The phone has Bluetooth disabled

Be sure to double-check your phone settings: is Bluetooth enabled )? In some cases (for example, after a system update), the module could be disabled without your command.

4) Faulty headset

Test the headset on another device to make sure everything is okay with it.
