How to flip video 90/180 degrees (video rotation software)

Good day!

One of the most popular tasks in video processing is to flip a picture 90 degrees clockwise (or counterclockwise). In more rare cases, you need to flip the video 180 degrees ("upside down").

Quite often this is required when the video is filmed with a camera that has been turned over during the shooting (for example, held vertically). In fact, you don't need any big specials to rotate a video. knowledge.

In this article I will give one of the simplest ways to solve this problem ...

How to flip a video 90 degrees - step by step

To work with video, we need one of the simple editors. I suggest dwelling on several products presented below.

*

Option 1: VIDEO-ASSEMBLY

Website: //video-editor.su/

A collection of articles on making your own video - see the beginner's compilation

A good video editor that can easily and quickly help solve ALL the most common and common tasks with video files. Why the choice fell on this particular program to solve a similar problem:

  • completely in Russian;
  • opens and supports all the most popular video formats: WMV, AVI, MKV, MPG, FLV, etc. (more than 50 formats);
  • made in the form of a step-by-step video processing wizard;
  • there are tools for rotating video (by the way, handy!);
  • compatible with Windows 7, 8, 10.

Let's start flipping the picture in one video ...

1) New project

After starting the program, you need to create a new project: to do this, click the button "File / new project" , or buttons Ctrl + N .

2) Choice of aspect ratio (if the program asks to do it) *

Regarding the choice of the aspect ratio - I recommend choosing 16: 9, or the automatic option. The rest of the options are of little relevance ...

I choose a widescreen video in my fitting video (screenshot below).

3) Add video files

Next, the program section will automatically open "Add" ... On the left side, open the folder where you have the "inverted" video and add it to the project (button "Add" - see arrows 1, 2 in the screenshot below 👇).

Note. Basically, using the program in this section is no different from the usual Windows Explorer.

4) Video editing

Next, I recommend that you pay attention to the lower part of the editor - where we moved our file (see the screenshot below). You can only leave here that site video that you need.

For this:

  1. find the beginning of the right moment;
  2. then click on the button "Divide" - there will be 2 on a track from one video! 👇
  3. then find the end of the desired part of the video and press again "Divide" ;
  4. then any part of the video can be deleted: just select it with the mouse and press Delete.

5) Video flipping effects

Well, now let's move on to the most important thing, for the sake of which this article was started - to INVOLVE the picture of the video. For this you need:

  1. first right-click on the desired part of the video on the video track (at the bottom of the window);
  2. then in the menu that appears, select Rotate 90 degrees ;
  3. if necessary, you can cut the video into several more parts and rotate each of them by the required number of degrees.

6) Save modified video

After the effects have been applied, you need to proceed to saving the result. To do this, click on the button "Save Video / Create AVI Video File" .

In principle, you can choose other options for saving video, but in my opinion, the option with AVI is the most preferable and universal ...

6) Saving the project

Before creating the AVI file, the program will ask you to save the project as well.In general, this is done quickly (I am not focusing on this), so just agree ...

7) Choosing a codec for video compression

The presented codecs for compression in the program (Xvid, Divx, H.264) are one of the most popular for compressing AVI files. Which one to choose is a matter of taste (each codec has its pros / cons, but in general, these options are approximately "the same").

Note: by the way, another undoubted plus of the VideoMONTAZH program is that it offers to specify not the bitrate for compression (as most programs do), but the final file size (it will calculate the bitrate itself!).

It is very convenient when the file needs to fit on some medium.

8) Video encoding

The last stage - the process of encoding (converting) the video will start. This process is quite lengthy (and here is not the kind of a specific program ...).

Note: it may often seem that the program freezes during operation, but it is not.

And one more thing: the remaining time shown at the bottom of the window is usually not correct! At first it indicated that it would take an hour to code, then 20 minutes, then 7 minutes. - but in the end it took a couple of minutes ...

The preservation process - don't trust the time!
