Yandex.Mail: how to create an e-mail and enter your mailbox. Setting up mail: creating rules against spam, choosing a subject, installing mail on the phone (so that messages are like SMS)

Good day everyone!

Today, without a mailbox, it is impossible to register on most sites on the network (in general, e-mail has long become as necessary a thing as a mobile phone ). Today I want to focus on one famous service from Yandex ...

Why the choice fell on Yandex.Mail:

  1. Firstly, it is one of the largest services in our country, with good support and reliability;
  2. Secondly, it has a lot of settings, which allows you not only to customize mail for yourself, but also to block spam (which always appears sooner or later), protecting yourself from unnecessary "hacks";
  3. Thirdly, this service has convenient applications for Android and iOS that allow you to work with mail from a regular phone (and always be instantly aware of all messages);
  4. Fourth, by registering on Yandex, you will get access to other very interesting services, for example, Yandex Money.

Agree, all this is pretty good, and if you add that the service is completely Russian-speaking, with a simple and intuitive interface, then in my opinion it objectively wins against many competitors (at least for residents of Russia).

Actually, below we will talk about how to work with Yandex.Mail, how to set it up in your own way ...

Registering an e-mail and setting it up in the Yandex.Mail service

Registration and login to the mailbox

Official website: //yandex.ru/

And so, right off the bat! To register and receive an e-mail, you must first go to the main page of Yandex, and in the upper right corner click on the link "Start mail" (see screenshot below).

Create mail on Yandex

Next, you need to fill out a rather short form (it is the same for all Yandex services):

  1. name and surname (it is highly desirable to indicate directly your personal data, because in case of loss of access to the mailbox, you can restore it only by confirming your identity);
  2. login: it must be unique (by the way, it will be used in your email address). By the way, many popular logins are already taken: Sasha, Lena, Alena, etc. I recommend that you write down your username somewhere, so as not to forget it later. ;
  3. password: required to access the service (how to choose the correct password: //ocomp.info/kak-sozdat-nadyozhnyiy-parol.html). I also recommend writing down (in a safe place ) ;
  4. mobile phone number: may be needed to confirm some operations (for example, if you forget your password or start using the Yandex Money service).
  5. also after it will be necessary to indicate the security question and the answer to it (for example, the mother's maiden name). This is necessary to restore access to the mailbox if you suddenly lose your password ...

check in

After you fill out and submit the form correctly, you can log into your profile and view your mail (in general, this usually happens automatically).

If the mail does not automatically open: open the Yandex main page again, and click on the button in the upper corner "Enter mail" (you will need to enter your username and password).

Login to mail

Actually, if you are logged into the profile, you will see that you can write a letter or open your mail. See screenshot below.

Top right corner - login form

The mail interface in Yandex can be configured in a rather original way (see the theme from the cartoon below)!

In general, if we talk about the interface in general, it is very friendly in Yandex and many standard operations are easy and simple to perform.

Main mail window

By the way!

I was once asked where to see your full e-mail address. In the upper right corner, click on your login, your full email address will be shown in the pop-up window: you can copy it and forward it to your contacts ...

Your e-mail address

Important! Please note that you can use a mobile phone number as your email address (as far as I know, this does not seem to exist in other services). To do this, it is enough to enable this feature in the profile - and mail can be received at an address of the form: [email protected]

Mailbox example

Pros: never forget; if you have chosen an inappropriate login, then it will be inconvenient for you to show it to other people in your business correspondence (with a number, everything looks "OK"!).

Choosing a theme

I don’t know why, but many people are very jealous of mail design (functionality is functional, but if you cannot change the topic, then they will not use the service).

In this regard, Yandex.Mail offers a fairly good set of themes. To change the theme: click on "gear" in the upper right corner of the screen, and in the pop-up window open the section "Registration" ... See screenshot below.

Registration

Next, several dozen topics will appear in front of you:

  • seasons: winter, summer, spring, autumn;
  • popular films, games, etc .;
  • various sports: football, hockey, etc .;
  • shows marine themes, landscapes; there are both bright themes and dark ones, etc. In general, there is plenty to choose from!

Choice of themes

After installing a new theme, you will immediately notice how the mailbox looks completely different.

By the way, changing the color scheme will help you customize the interface to your monitor and your conditions (just if you work in the dark, then you will most likely be more comfortable with dark themes, if in bright well-lit ones, then light ones).

How to send documents / files by mail

Another very popular question!

In fact, sending a document by mail is one of the fastest ways today. 10 sec. to create a message and voila, the document went 1000 km. to the other side of the country!

And so how to do it:

  1. first you need to go to the mail interface and click on the "Write" button;

    to write a message

  2. then specify the addressee (to whom you are sending the message), the subject of the message, and click on the "Paperclip" icon (ie attach files to the message). See the screenshot below;

    Attaching documents to a letter

  3. then add all the files (documents) that you want to send. Please note that all files attached to the message will be displayed at the bottom, under the message text (see example below).

    What the added documents look like

  4. and finally, all that remains is to send the message. All documents that you have attached with a "paper clip" to the message - will be delivered to the addressee within a short time!

    The letter has been sent!

  5. moments later, on my phone (note: my mail was used as the addressee in the example above) there was a notification that the documents came ...

    The documents have arrived!

Important!

If you have some very confidential information in your documents, then it is highly desirable to somehow password-protect the documents before sending them (and tell the sender the password in another way, by phone, for example).

To help! How to close a Word or Excel file with a password: block access to documents - //ocomp.info/kak-zaparolit-fayl-excel-word.html

In this case, even if you make a mistake and send the letter to the wrong place (or it doesn't matter for some reason that someone else will not be able to "get it") - then, not knowing the password, he simply will not be able to see what kind of documents you have there!

In general, security has not been canceled!

Spam filtering: white and black lists of e-mail addresses

Another scourge associated with e-mail lately is the huge amount of spam.Moreover, even if you almost never "shone" your mail, it can still get into various mailing lists. (maybe they just get brute force ...) .

In general, Yandex.Mail is quite "prepared" in this regard: there are smart filters that automatically catch and stop tons of spam (moreover, false positives are quite rare).

For example, you receive some letters from an unfamiliar addressee that you are already tired of - just select this "letter" and click on the button "Spam" ... After 1-2 such highlighted letters - Yandex.Mail will remember that you do not need this addressee, and all other messages from him will automatically go to spam (i.e. they will no longer bother you).

Marking some emails as spam

However, there is also a "manual" setting. To do this, you need to open the settings - section "Rules for processing letters" ... See example below.

Mail processing rules

Next, pay attention to a couple of points:

  1. whitelisting and blacklisting: the most beginner-friendly thing. You can simply enter the e-mail addresses of those who you need and those who are not needed in it. As a result, addressees from the white list will never be placed in spam, and from the black list, you will never know about messages from them;
  2. creating rules: you can also manually set various filters and rules for processing different letters (very convenient in some cases). I think this point needs to be considered in more detail below ...

White and black lists

So, starting to create a rule, you should open a window in which you can:

  • indicate from which addressee letters to process (and what they may contain);
  • specify conditions: delete, mark as important, put some kind of label, etc.;
  • indicate whether it is also necessary to forward mail somewhere, whether it is necessary to notify someone, etc.

Terms and conditions

For example, I want to mark emails as important from one of the addressees (note: this will make it easy to distinguish these letters in the list of all incoming mail, since they will be highlighted with a bright light) ... To do this, in the "From" line, simply indicate the e-mail address (see example below), indicate the desired action and create a rule.

We make all letters from this address important!

Actually, now all letters from this addressee will always be in sight!

How to read messages in mail on the phone, like ordinary SMS-ki

If earlier, in order to read the mail, it was necessary to turn on the PC (or even launch some program ... ), now it is enough to use a regular smartphone. Yandex.Mail has specials. applications for Android and iOS that will allow you to work with mail directly from your smartphone!

Moreover, you will receive real-time notifications about all incoming messages right on the desktop of your phone (just as if you received a regular SMS)!

Yandex Mail

Google Play: //play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ru.yandex.mail

App Store: //itunes.apple.com/

Screen of the application (from the developers)

A simple and convenient application for those who always want to be in touch. Thanks to its work, you can manage your mail from your smartphone. Note that the application is very well synchronized with the web version of mail: for example, if you viewed mail from your PC, it will also be marked as read on your phone!

I will give below a couple of screenshots of real work. For example, after receiving a message in the mail, a notification appears on your screen, clicking on which, you can immediately read it. See example below.

An example of a new message notification on Yandex.Mail

In the application itself, almost all the same functions are available as in the web interface: you can also view all folders, write and send a message, open settings, etc.

Application menu

All in all, the app is very well made! Can be recommended to everyone who wants to be always in touch online for all contacts ...

If an error appears that the password is incorrect: how to enter your "box"

Well, the last question I wanted to dwell on is the "Invalid password" error that appears when logging into the service. The screenshot below shows roughly how it looks.

Yandex informs that the password is incorrect

Before you panic, pay attention to:

  • keyboard layout (in more than half of the cases - it is her fault).

    layout

  • do you have a key pressed Caps lock (because of it, the case of letters will be different from the one you enter);
  • try to open notepad and write a password in it, and then copy it and paste it into the desired one after (after checking each character in it).

    Try to transfer the password from notepad to the required field

If this is not successful, pay attention to the link "I can not enter" (at the bottom of the login form).

I can not enter

By clicking on this link, a form for restoring access will open in front of you: you will need to enter your username (or full email address), then answer a series of questions (the answers to which can only be known by the person who registered the mailbox. For example, to answer a security question, which was set when the box was opened; it is also often required to confirm actions with a code from an SMS, which will be sent to the number associated with the mail).

That is why I recommended at the beginning of the article to write down your password, login, phone number, security question in a reliable notebook in case of force majeure ...

Access recovery form

PS all passwords and logins used on the screenshots in the article are not real!

That's all for now.

All the best!
