Wi-Fi Authentication Error on Android Phone

Good time everyone!

When setting up a Wi-Fi connection on the phone, it often occurs authentication error (after which a message about the network status may also appear: "Saved, WPA / WPA2 protection"). An example of such an error is shown in the screenshot below.

In general, authentication is a check of the security key for accessing the network (note: the range of Wi-Fi is large enough, and if you do not do this check, everyone who wants to be able to connect to your network ...).

In this note below, I will give several options for solving a similar problem, which helped me out more than once ...

Note: if you still managed to connect to a Wi-Fi network, but the Internet on the device did not appear, read this instruction - //ocomp.info/na-android-ne-rabotaet-internet.html

How I have previously managed to resolve the authentication error

Option 1

The very first thing I would advise you to start with:

  1. disable modem mode, flight mode (if they were enabled);
  2. check the time and time zone - if necessary, correct it to the correct values;
  3. after restarting the phone (for this it is enough to hold down the power button for 3-5 seconds).

Airplane mode is disabled!

Also pay attention to other devices, is the connection to the Wi-Fi network working on them, are there any errors? ..

Option 2

The next recommendation is to go to the phone settings in the section "Wireless networks" , then go to the tab "Wi-Fi" , select your network and delete it (if possible).

Note: in some versions of Android, instead of "Delete network" there is another translation option "Forget network".

Delete network

After that, select this Wi-Fi network again and try to connect to it. As a rule, in most cases, such a simple thing helps to restore networking ...

Option 3

Double-check your Wi-Fi password. Pay attention to the upper case as you type (when you enter the first character, it may be included by default ...).

Password check

By the way, if, for example, a laptop is connected to the same Wi-Fi network, then you can quickly look at the correct password on it. To do this, first press the combination Win + R, enter the command ncpa.cpl and click OK.

Next open state wireless network.

Network status

Then go to her properties , in the tab safety check the box next to "Display entered characters" - the password will be presented on the line "Network Security Key" ... See example below.

Option 4

If all of the above did not help, then I recommend opening router settings and pay attention to a number of important parameters.

How to open the Wi-Fi router settings (enter the web interface). What to do if the settings page does not open - //ocomp.info/kak-zayti-v-nastroyki-routera.html

This is about:

  • security mode (set the mode to WPA / WPA2-PSK);
  • network password (try to set a password consisting only of numbers during diagnostics. In some cases it helps!);
  • radio channel (I recommend changing it manually. It's just that if your neighbors use the same radio channel, the network may slow down, errors. By the way, channels from 1 to 13 are used in Russia).

Wireless Settings / Tenda Router

After changing the settings and restarting the router, try to reconnect the phone to the Wi-Fi network.

Option 5

Another tip: try to connect another Android phone to this Wi-Fi network, will it connect? If yes, then maybe it makes sense to think about a complete reset of the settings on a non-working device (ie, make a so-called "Hard Reset" - restoring the phone to the factory presets). Some errors and failures cannot be recovered somehow differently ...

I note right away that this will delete all data on the phone.Make a backup of all contacts and files in advance.

Note: to restore factory presets - open the Android settings and go to the "Restore and reset" section, then agree to perform the operation ...

However, if there are other options (see the link below for instructions).
