There is no Win button on the keyboard: what to do? How can I press the Windows button in an alternate way

User question

Hello.

Tell me what to do if I don't have a Win button on my keyboard, and in many cases I need to press it ...

Hello.

The most obvious way is to replace the keyboard with a full-fledged one (unless, of course, you have a laptop).

Among other things, there are some things that can be done programmatically. I will present several solutions to the problem below. 👌

What can you do if there is no Win button

Option 1: use the combination Ctrl + Esc

The simplest and most affordable option for replacing the "Win" button when working in Windows is to use the following combination of buttons:

Ctrl + Esc

and

Alt + Tab

They work both in 3D games and simply when working with a conductor. Even this is enough for many users ... 👌

Ctrl + Esc = Win

By the way, if you need the "Win" button to open the window "Run" - then in Windows 10, to call it, you can right-click on the START menu ... See the example below 👇.

RMB on START - Run

Also note that instead of a window "Run" - you can use the classicTask Manager (to call it press Ctrl + Alt + Del). By going to the menu "File / create new task" - you can run any other applications (same command line).

Option 2: bring up the on-screen keyboard

In some cases, it is very convenient to use the virtual keyboard (and not only for pressing the Win button).

To open the virtual keyboard, you first need to go to the Windows Windows control panel in the tab "Accessibility / Accessibility Center" .

Next turn on the on-screen keyboard.

Enable On-Screen Keyboard

After that, you will see a window with a keyboard - any button from which you can click with the mouse cursor. There are all the necessary keys: Win, PrtScn, Home, Fn, etc.

Option 3: reassign the "Win" key to another

With the help of specials. utilities, you can reassign the "Win" key to the right "Ctrl" (for example). As a result, when you press "Ctrl" - "Win" will work ...

How to configure all this - my previous note will tell (link to it below). In general, it all comes down to installing the MapKeyboard utility and specifying two keys: what instead of what (screen below 👇).

Note: of course, with this method of solving the problem - the "Win" key will only work in a loaded Windows OS (in which we changed the parameters using a special utility).

When connecting the keyboard to another PC (or when working with another OS) - the reassigned keys will not work!
