The Chrome browser does not offer translation of the page (and it is partially in a foreign language). What to do?

User question

Hello.

I don't know English very well, but I periodically need to browse one forum (for work). Previously, my Chrome automatically translated the page into Russian, but now it does not translate (I sin on updating). You have to manually copy / paste into the online translator, which is very inconvenient.

Can Chrome be forced to translate again ?! Thanks in advance!

Hello.

If everything is in order with your browser and system (that is, there are no critical errors, virus infection, etc.), then this problem is quite easily fixable (perhaps you have "just" ticked off ...).

Below I will offer a relatively simple way to solve ...

"Force" translation in Chrome

STEP 1

First, pay attention to the URL-line of the browser, if there are any specials there. icon for making a translation. How it looks is shown in the screenshot below.

Translation icon

If not, open the browser settings (in the upper right menu, click on the icon with "three" dots). See example below.

Chrome settings

STEP 2

Next, scroll down the page to the very bottom and open the tab "Additional" .

Among them there should be a subsection "Languages" : check that you have a checkmark next to the item "Offer translation of pages if their language differs from the one used in the browser" .

Chrome Advanced Settings

STEP 3

Then refresh the web page where you had English (foreign) text. If the browser still did not offer the translation, right-click (right mouse button) in any free space on the page and select the option from the menu that appears "Translate to Russian" ... See screenshot below.

Translate to Russian

STEP 4

If the browser failed to translate the page again and there was an error signaling this (in the top menu, next to the address bar) - click on the button "parameters" (right in that error window).

Parameters (the page could not be translated into Russian)

STEP 5

Next, specify the language of the original page, and the language into which you want to translate the content (for example, English -> Russian). Then click on the button "Translate" .

English Russian

STEP 6

As a rule, after such a forced indication, the page begins to be displayed in Russian (by the way, if you specified the source language incorrectly, the parameters can always be changed in the upper menu of the browser ... See the example below).

STEP 7

A very good solution for translating certain incomprehensible areas (words, sentences) can be special. browser extensions (for example, ImTranslator (link to the Chrome store)).

After installing the extension: to translate a specific section of text - just select it and click the extension button that appears (see the screenshot below). After that, the Russian version of what was written will appear in the window next to it. Conveniently?!

Select, click - we get the translation!

PS

If you use another browser (not Chrome), I recommend that you read the note, the link to which is given below. Several other plugins are presented in it, perhaps this will push you to additional. idea ...
