FIFA (series)
Remark: I would definitely recommend trying versions of FIFA 07 and 08 (the games are very high quality and dynamic, they are still popular in online games in GameRanger). I would also recommend checking out FIFA 05 (interesting soundtrack).

Football is the most popular sport in the world, and FIFA is the most popular game of this theme. It is distinguished, first of all, by its "realism" - the latest versions of the game look so high quality and drawn that many people, starting to watch your game, can easily confuse it with a real match! Add to this the high dynamism of what is happening, the ability to play online with real people, different tactics, etc.
Also note that FIFA has long used the real names of teams, players, stadiums, etc. (unlike other similar games). Even player models are created from real people, their movements, individual feints, movement speed are copied (i.e. different players have different levels of technology, speed, impact force, etc.).
Well, I would also add the presence of Russian-speaking commentators - that's something!
In general, from the FIFA series, you can 100% choose a toy for yourself, even for a 15-year-old weak PC (he himself played version 07/08 on a PC from 2002, and nothing is quite playable, not at the maximum graph. Settings, sure...) .
Pro Evolution Soccer (series)
Recommendations: one of the best versions of the entire line, in my opinion, is Pro Evolution Soccer 2013. I also recommend that you familiarize yourself with Pro Evolution Soccer 5 and 6. Perhaps these three parts are one of the best, and can compete with FIFA.

Pro Evolution Soccer, in my opinion, differs from FIFA by better player movements, well-developed physics, variability, realism (what is the cost of playing with your hand, the ability to call defenders to the standards, unique celebrations of the goal scored, change the position of each player on the field, etc.) ). FIFA hasn't implemented a lot of this until now (and all of the above was already in the 5th and 6th versions of Pro Evolution Soccer) ...
After the 6th version and up to 2013 - the games (due to the change of the engine) deteriorated greatly, and many fans "turned away" from Pro Evolution Soccer. However, modern versions seem to be gaining momentum again ...
Anyway, I would definitely recommend all football fans to get acquainted with the 5th, 6th and 2013 versions of Pro Evolution Soccer (perhaps your opinion about FIFA will change a lot ...).
NHL (series)

And I must say that NBA 2K is a very, very good basketball simulator. The first version of NBA 2K9 was released on the PC (before that the game was released on consoles): it updated graphics, improved physics, became simpler and easier interface, control system, etc. Added network mode with a wide variety of settings.
NBA 2K11 has added various leagues, teams, game formats, championships, improved physics, and added Michael Jordan to the cover! By the way, the game has a "The Jordan Challenge" mode - you can try to repeat the success of the legendary basketball player.
In NBA 2K14, Euroleague teams were updated, player models were created from real people using new technology, completely new physics, gameplay, etc. Two new modes were added to the game: MyTEAM - the passage of various tournaments; Crew Mode - creating your own team to test it online with teams of other players.

Note that the tricks look very impressive! How about you roll over 3 times in the air while jumping, and stand on two wheels on the board? And this is not the most difficult thing! It is even more interesting to play together (and, moreover, you can use the same keyboard!).

The essence of the game is simple: you roll around the field on a typewriter and try to roll a ball (the size of which is larger than the car itself) into the opponent's goal. Moreover, you will have to worry not only for the ball, but also for the integrity of the machine itself, because no one stops opponents in the game, and they may well destroy it!
The match in the game lasts only 5 minutes, but they take place in a very dynamic and fast scenario (they do not allow distraction or relaxation).
F1 2013
F1 2013 - a slight skid on the track ...
Formula 1 auto racing simulator. It differs from a series of similar racing games primarily in that even people who are very far from sports can play it! There is a mode for both beginners and professionals (where it is really impossible to play without serious experience).

I note that this billiards differs from others primarily in its physics (the shots, the trajectory of the balls, their deflections, "twisting", "jumping" and other techniques have been worked out very well). All this is embodied in neat three-dimensional graphics (which still looks without "squares"), which is very pleasing.
The game modes are also very diverse - there are all the main types of billiards: "three", "American", "Russian pyramid", "snooker" and much more. I note that the tables, cues, inventory and other things that are shown on the screen are made very realistically, they correspond to the real proportions and sizes among themselves.
You can play both from a PC and with real people (both over the network and on one computer).

A very original and cool game about surfing penguins. You can create your own board, choose a hero, and take part in the championship! By the way, the game was born based on the cartoon "Catch the Wave" (perhaps that's why it got quite widespread).

I note a good soundtrack, and the presence of frames from the famous film ("Catch the Wave"). There is a very good multiplayer mode that allows you to play with each other.

Imagine: the game takes you into the tense atmosphere of American football. Only you will not play for people, but for very exotic characters: goblins, elves, dogs, etc. By the way, different players have their own unique abilities (I will add that there are no strongest or weakest - the balance is at the level!).
