Recently, nVidia launched a very interesting project for the Russian-speaking audience - "GeForce NOW". This is special. a cloud service for gamers to replace a powerful PC!

Note: "GeForce NOW" is available to users with any graphics card (not just nVidia)!

What is the essence: Let's say you have an old laptop with weak integrated graphics (Intel HD, for example). Of course, you can't play many new games on it at maximum settings: Witcher, Fortnite, Metro Exodus, etc.!

However, once you connect to GeForce NOW, you on cloudy service, you can start the game with any of those. requirements - for your own computer / laptop it will be just watching an online video.

Those. the whole load of processing the game "falls" on the "GeForce NOW" - and you are enjoying an online game that will watch a video for your system (and even some Dual core X86 CPU with a frequency of 2.0GHz can handle this).

Of course, this has almost no effect on the gameplay - i.e. the difference between whether the game is running on your PC or on a cloud service is invisible!

In general, everything that is on the "Steam" service is in "GeForce NOW" (and even more)! The site has a built-in convenient search, thanks to which you can quickly find the game you want.

2) Low tech. the requirements

You can run any gaming novelties even on some old MacBook or office laptop. All you need is:

CPU: Dual core X86 CPU @ 2.0GHz;
4 GB of RAM;
video card: NVIDIA GeForce 600 series or higher (Intel HD Graphics 2000 or higher; AMD Radeon HD 3000 or higher);
stable connection to the Internet (at least 25 Mbps! *).

In general, the requirements are the same as those needed to watch online videos in Full HD resolution.

3) Save time and space on HDD / SSD

You do not need to download games, patches, configure them and other worries to your hard drive. The latest on GeForce NOW servers!

4) Long battery play time

Because the load on the device is much lower (the cloud service takes over everything, and the image of the game is transmitted to you in the form of a streaming video) - your device can work much longer on battery power.

Everything is quite simple here!

I note that the CPU load on my office laptop (i5-7200U) did not exceed 20-30%, the FPS is stable about 60 (perhaps it can be unlocked somehow, but my monitor is still early at 60 Hz - so I did not test it) ...

By the way, it is very useful sometimes to call the game menu - the combination Win + G (tested only on Windows 10).

conclusions

the service as a whole is working, it is quite comfortable to play even on an old laptop / PC (which obviously would not have pulled the latest hits);
the service seriously saves time and disk space (especially useful for laptop users);
in my opinion - a little "dusty" registration (you have to enter the login twice on the site and in the application);
the pleasure is not free - 1000 rubles. per month. Although, if you count: an entry-level gaming PC will rise at 50,000 rubles. (after 3 years it will be outdated and need to be updated). During this time, we would have spent 30,000 in "GeForce NOW" and always played at maximum. settings - quite good!
for a comfortable game, you need a high-quality and stable Internet connection (and preferably a gigabit channel). With less than 50 Mbps * - in my opinion, it doesn't even make sense to try ...

That's all for now. The "GeForce NOW" service has been working relatively recently and it is still difficult to say something more definite.

However, if this "thing" will appeal to many users, will not the need for powerful PCs and laptops disappear? Why, launch the game in the cloud and enjoy ... 👌
