Photo processing in 7 easy steps (retouching, trimming the edges, removing moles, dimples, pimples, etc.)

Good day!

Many users believe that in order to process and retouch a photo, it is necessary to master and know some monstrous editor (like Photoshop).

In fact, in not very difficult cases, everything can be done quite easily and quickly (it will take 5-10 minutes), and even if you have never done this before! 😉

In my example below, in a few steps I will show how you can remove moles, dimples, objects accidentally in the frame from a regular photo, change the brightness and saturation of the complexion, and perform toning. By the way, to make it clear what this is about - I posted my photo (before processing and after) just below, see an example. 👇

By following these steps, you can quickly eliminate all imperfections in your face (and body) and dramatically improve the quality of your photos!

So...

*

Photo processing example

The pictures below have been processed in the program "Photo-Master" , the link to the program is just below (everything about everything took about 5 minutes!). Actually, I recommend to opt for it. In my example below, I will show all actions in this editor.

Sample (face photo before and after processing)

Photo-Master

Website: //photo-master.com/

This is an editor for novice users, with a pretty good set of tools. Allows you to process photos with high quality without forcing you to have any professional skills. Those. the tools in the program are designed for an unprepared person!

Also note that the program is completely in Russian, and is compatible with all modern OS Windows XP, 7, 8, 10.

By the way, there are not so few programs for beginners to work with photos. In one of my past articles, I have highlighted a few of the simpler ones. Basically, most of the actions (below), you can perform in other software. I give the link below.

STEP 1: trimming the edges

Why process the entire photo - if you just don't need its edges (and perhaps even a part of the photo) ?! In addition, the edges of the photograph are often uneven, have some kind of irreparable defects, etc.

Note: I omitted the installation of the "Photo-Master" editor (it is standard). To open a photo - use the "File" menu (also nothing complicated ...).

To crop a photo: you need to go to the menu "Instruments" and open the tab "Cropping" .

Photo-Master - cropping photos

Next, specify the boundaries along which the cropping will be performed (everything outside the rectangle and highlighted in gray will be deleted). See screenshot below. 👇

STEP 2: remove unwanted objects from the photo

Note that the gray background (to the left of the face) contains 3 areas with dust particles (it may have been on the lens).

To remove unnecessary objects in the photo (like these) - you need to use the tool "Stamp" (section "Retouching").

Removing unwanted objects

Working with "Stamped" very simple:

  1. first select the area that you want to delete (completely) with a circle. By the way, choose the diameter of the circle exactly according to the size of the area to be deleted;
  2. then the second circle will appear - drag it to the place from which the area for the first circle will be copied. Essentially a tool "Stamp" copies part of a photo from one place and transfers it to another.

Removing a dusty area

Using this tool 3 times - in the test photo 3 gray blocks were removed (which obviously did not fit into the picture 😉).

*

STEP 3: removal of minor flaws: moles, dimples, pimples, various irregularities, etc.

Let's move on to the most interesting part! To remove small defects (like the same moles or dimples) in the Photo-Master there is a special. tool - "Healing Brush" (in the section "Retouching").

Healing Brush (Photo-Master)

After activating this brush, change its diameter to the size of the defect to be removed (see example below). Then just click once on it with the left mouse button.

Removing a mole (Photo-Master)

You will see that the Healing Brush will automatically remove the selected flaw. Pay attention to the mole next to the eye (see the example in the screenshot below 👇) - it is gone!

No birthmark

Similarly, the healing brush can be applied to small dimples: you need to click on each of them with the desired brush diameter.

Removing dimples

To correct large areas (such as the burn site in the example below) - you need to increase the diameter of the brush (more than> 20) and adjust the parameters "Feathers" and "Transparency" (experimentally), see arrow-1 on the screenshot below. Then brush over this place several times.

Correction of the burn site

As a result, you can significantly correct the defect in this place (for example, make the skin smoother and more saturated).

The skin is smoother

In general, "shamanizing" with this tool - you can delete and correct all not very successful parts of the image. The main thing is not to rush, and for each area, select the correct diameter of the brush (as well as its transparency and shading).

*

STEP 4: retouch (skin smoothing, redness, highlights, eye expression, eyebrows, teeth whiteness, etc.)

There are specials in the Photo-Master. the section responsible for the above points (by the way, the most popular ones - it is for them that all this processing is started ...).

And so, first you need to open the section "Retouch" and go to tool "Perfect portrait" .

Retouching face

After I recommend opening the tab "Manual settings" and start changing each parameter yourself - immediately see what it changes and how your photo will look most advantageous.

I note that there are a lot of parameters in this tab, you can fine-tune each element of the face, body: skin, eyes, eyebrows, lips, teeth, etc.

Manual settings - anti-aliasing, redness, highlights

When you change any of the parameters, you immediately see all the changes in the photo. Of course, these parameters must be set for each photo separately, depending on the quality of the image and the desired results.

Lips, eyebrows, whiteness of teeth, etc.

STEP 5: remove red eye

Note: in my example, there is no red-eye effect, but because this problem still occurs quite often, I decided to include this moment in the article ...

Removing the red-eye effect is quite simple: in the section "Retouch" there is a special proofreader (see screen below).

Retouching - Red Eye Correction (Photo-Master)

After you open it, match the brush to the size of the redness of the eye. Then move the cursor over the red spot and click once with the mouse on it. The program will automatically remove all red in this area!

Adjusting the brush size and removing the effect

Similarly, you need to perform the procedure for the second eye (and for other persons, if several people are captured in the photo). This simple manual process will help you quickly bring natural eye colors back into your shot!

STEP 6: color correction, toning

Color grading can work wonders! From a faded photo with low brightness, you can take a truly glossy photo (as printed in magazines).

To change the photo in this way - in the Photo-Master you need to open the section "Improvements" and go to the tab "Colors" ("Basic", "Sharpness"). Next, manually adjust the shades of red, orange, yellow. Changes will be visible immediately!

Improvements - colors

Then I recommend to go to the section "Instruments" and open the tab "Toning" (another tool to help bring your photo to life).

Toning (Photo-Master)

Then move the slider "Force" to the right, observing the changes in the photo.

STEP 7: adding effects

Well, the final touch remains - apply additional effects to make the photo even more glamorous (👀).

The section in the Photo-Master responsible for this is called "Effects" ... When you open it, dozens of the most common effects will appear in the menu on the right. For example, the option looks very impressive "Romance" .

Effects - romance

If you want to take a black and white photo, you can use the effect "Alfa APX 100" (example below).

Converting a photo to black and white

To make your photo even brighter and more saturated, you can use the effect "Gone With the Wind" .

Note: by the way, the intensity of the effect can be adjusted using the slider that appears under the edited photo (example below).

Gone with the Wind Effect - Adjust the Intensity

As a final version (so that it can be clearly seen), I collected several photographs, located from left to right.

The first is the original photo, the second is processed without effects, the third is the effect "Gone With the Wind" , the last one is the effect "Romance" .

In general, that's all for now ...

Add-ons are welcome.

Happy work!
