I decided to focus on the 14 hits below from past years (many of them still have an army of thousands of fans). I think that most of those who sometimes think "what else would I play ..." will find something interesting for themselves here!

I can't help but put one of the legendary games in the first place (it was released both on PC and on consoles). The essence of the game is simple: you are transported to the world of castles, tombs, sands and the like. You have to save your girlfriend in the allotted time, who was stolen by the evil vizier Jafar (scenario of the classic version of the game from 89). A very addicting platformer, the toy is still of great interest!
Modern versions of the game are made, of course, in a slightly different style. Here you will find three-dimensional graphics, various realistic movements, acrobatics, shadows, tricks and exciting stunts of the protagonist. It all looks, of course, very cool!
Overall, this series of games is considered one of the best and very popular! I would also note that "Prince of Persia" is one of the few games that allows you to travel to the World of the Middle Ages and fully experience that atmosphere (a very rare occurrence ...). I recommend it to everyone, without exception!

The essence of the game: you find yourself in the shoes of theoretical physicist Gordon Freeman, who is the only one who can save our planet from aliens (game, by the way, in the first person). You will have to independently explore and study the territory, understand the facts, shoot various creatures, solve various problems, etc.
I do not know what else can be added to interest those who are not familiar with this wonderful product ...
Doom 3 (2004)
Note: the toy, by the way, at one time required a fairly powerful hardware and was for a long time the standard by which the FPS was measured when testing hardware (video cards).
Doom 3 is the first (and probably the only) game I was really scared to play ...
Sci-fi first person shooter. I must admit that this is one of the most sensational games of 2004-2006 (that time, I note, was the "golden" era of games). Literally after one iron review, they mentioned it, and said that in Doom 3 the video card will give 40 FPS ...
The essence of the game: you find yourself in the role of a paratrooper on the planet Mars, in a research laboratory. At first everything seems to be going well, but suddenly ... something goes wrong (as usual). The laboratory collapses, electricity problems begin, many monsters and creatures go out of control. You have to deal with all this ...
I'll add on my own: that this is the only game that was really scary to play.Imagine sitting in front of a PC screen in the evening, wandering down a dimly lit corridor through a station in Doom 3. Holding a single shotgun with running out of rounds: what awaits you behind an open door? The play of shadows and the blinking of light, sounds and rustles - made by the developers so well that you really find yourself in this labyrinth yourself, you start to shudder and involuntarily press the trigger until you lower the last cartridge ...

GTA (game series)
Recommended: Be sure to familiarize yourself with Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (2002) and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

A whole series of games about gangsters and their showdown on the streets of the city. In the games of this series, you will control one of these "gangsters", moving around the city and completing various missions. As you complete them, you will increasingly spread your influence in the city, conquering new areas. In the process, you will be able to ride a lot on cars, motorcycles, helicopters, boats, etc.
What attracts many in the game is that there are no restrictions: you can take any car, go in any direction, shoot at any objects and targets, etc. Perhaps this freedom of action brought the game such popularity!
Multiplayer is also available in the game. Part of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is very popular on the net. I recommend to review!
Left 4 Dead 2 (2008)
Left 4 Dead 2 is not a very pleasant shot ...
Another hit about zombies, however, from 2009 (not recommended for those who do not like "horror films"). In Left 4 Dead 2 you have to play in the first person, walk through the city, swamp and cemetery (5 large companies!): From the south of Savannah to New Orleans (USA). Everything would be fine, but on your way there will be a huge number of zombies, various obstacles and problems. Get ready to shoot a lot with different types of weapons. The job is not pleasant ...
As for personal impressions: in my opinion, with regard to "horror" (ie horror) - the game loses Doom 3 clean, which is somewhat surprising, since she came out 5 years after him. Despite the abundance of blood and zombies, the atmosphere of fear does not arise - it looks more like a simple action movie (perhaps it’s a game of shadows and lighting).
Be that as it may, the toy is still very popular. I recommend to all fans of this direction!
Quake III Arena (1999)

A once very popular toy (although now, in some LANs, Quake III is very popular). It is a first-person shooter.
The essence of the game: you find yourself in the skin of a gladiator (just not in the Middle Ages with swords, axes and maces - but in space, in one of the arenas). You can have a fairly large number of weapons in your arsenal (they are scattered around the map, and you need to collect them before using). Well, the goal of an ordinary gladiator is to destroy his rivals. It is also relevant for this game ...
Note that the game is designed specifically for the network (you can play alone, but it's not so exciting). At one time, tournaments with solid cash prizes were held on it (as it is now - I don't know ...).
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001)
Note: in general, a whole series of games dedicated to Harry Potter has been released. But in my opinion, the "Philosopher's Stone", after all, like the film, was the best embodiment of that fairy-tale world ...

Game based on the book by J.K. Rowling "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone". You will meet with friends and beloved heroes, magic lessons, flying on a broomstick, adventures at school, etc.
In general, the game is a rather fascinating adventure game (I would even say that it is multidirectional). The school where Harry will spend most of his time is very similar to a large medieval castle (at least in my opinion). There are quite a lot of interesting things in the area, and I just want to study the whole structure! By the way, the difficulty of the game is average, so it is quite possible to complete it in a couple of evenings, even if you are not a very experienced gamer.
In general, the toy leaves a very positive impression. Recommended for everyone, even those who are not a fan of this movie (book).

An interesting toy that will take you to the world of the Middle Ages. Big castles, sword fighting, archery, command and control, and more await you.
It will be possible to play both for Jeanne herself and for her friends. Each has its own super-strikes, its own weapons. As you progress through each company, you will have to complete dozens of different tasks: guide the traveler through the mysterious forest, liberate the village, break the enemy squad, etc. In general, quite exciting, especially for those who love history, and in general games about those times ...
Difficulty: medium. I think that the majority can pass it (if desired). Therefore, I can safely recommend it!

But it turns out not everything is so simple ... Some strange village in an unfamiliar country, where it is not clear what is happening. The creak of trees swaying in the wind, a mysterious atmosphere, deserted streets. What is it for? But, suddenly you see a man in the distance, but he walks somehow unusual. What about him?..
Actually, I suggest you find out the rest directly in the game ...

The essence of the game is about the same as in Quake III: you find yourself in a certain area and you need to kill opponents in order for your team to win. The third part is distinguished by its elaborate graphics, perfectly balanced weapons, maps, tools, and unique game modes.
I note that various tournaments were often held for the game, it was installed in almost every computer club in the late 90s (first part). Probably worth it to get to know her?

Performing one task after another, you discreetly explore a huge city, learn to pick locks quickly, and meet the elders (and they have their own goals, and they will force you to plunge into one "difficult" business ...).
The toy is very exciting and will not leave anyone indifferent. Well, the size of the city here is really just huge (and if you consider that you can go into almost any building ...). I recommend it to absolutely everyone who loves adventure (this is not an action movie or a shooter in its purest form - here it is unnecessary to push the trigger to the limit ...).
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (2006)

This game takes us to Cyrodiil (province of Tamriel in the world of Nirn). There, the king is killed in a strange way, and the main character (for whom you will play) must find an heir. His problem, as it turns out, is not an easy one ...
A variety of adventures await you in the game: hectares of unexplored territories, various buildings, mines, etc. On the way you will meet thousands of characters (without exaggeration), with whom you will have to trade, communicate, and some even fight.
In the game you can create your own hero, and in addition to the appearance, you can specify his qualities (for example, he can be a strong warrior or a cunning thief. You choose ...).
The toy is highly appreciated, millions of users around the world consider it one of the best in its genre. And therefore, I just cannot help but mention her in this review (although I personally did not feel much sympathy for her ...).
