This article will be useful for those who want to know about their colleagues (subordinates): who and how works at the computer (PC), what sites they look at, what they spend most of their time on, when they start work, and when they finish it.

In general, a useful article for bosses and managers (or for those whom they have entrusted to monitor employees, usually it is a sysadmin (less often HR managers) 😎).

It's no secret that managing people is a very difficult and not an easy task. It is only in conversations in the kitchen that the word "boss" sounds proudly, but often this position is a real punishment (I think those who at least once in their life tried to lead, control, and be responsible for at least 3-5 people will understand me. on not the most "bread" place!).

An excellent, simple, easy-to-configure and learn program for monitoring and tracking employees' working time. Unlike similar programs, it allows you to quickly get used to the launch of the control process, even for those who are new to the PC.

I also want to note that the program allows you to receive very high-quality and varied reports, which is important. In general, I recommend the slave for use and analysis. time of employees (by the way, at the end of the article I gave several more similar programs, and gave a small comparison with this one) .

Important! This program will make it possible to more efficiently distribute the salary fund, reduce costs, etc.

Getting Started: How to Launch and Configure "Office Metrics"

Well, I gave the link to the program itself above. I think that there will be no problems downloading and installing it (everything is standard).

Now "Office metric" will start to control one computer - your PC! And here the most pressing question is what to do so that the program starts monitoring other PCs.

To do this, you need to do:

  1. first create a special. EXE file (a kind of agent), in the program it is called a data collection module (to create it, there is a "Connect" button);
  2. generated EXE file (agent) - needs to be run on all PCs that you want to control. I think it's not difficult to do this - one time come before the employees (or stay late).

Generation of the data collection module. To do this, the program has a button "To plug" - press it. Next, you will be warned that a special file will be generated - "Data acquisition module" , agree and continue (press the button again "To plug" , see the screen below, arrows 1 and 2).

Connect a new employee

After selecting the folder where you want to save the EXE file, you will see a report that OfisMetrikaAgent (data acquisition module) ready.

Now this file you need to run on computers that you want to monitor, and from which you want to receive reports about what is happening on them. After installing OfisMetrikaAgent, in about 15-20 minutes, statistics data will begin to arrive on your computer: who is busy and what.

I think that there will be no problems with running a regular EXE file (i.e., like any program), and therefore, I am smoothly moving on to reports and customizing the display of employees.

I recommend not to delay setting up the program (especially if you plan to install data collection module on many other PCs).

To set the name of your company, departments (for example, sales, legal, etc.), rename employees, etc. - open the tab "Company" (see screenshot below).

To configure the global parameters of the company, you need:

  1. first click on "Company" (number 1 on the screenshot below);
  2. then enter the name of your company (number 2);
  3. specify the work schedule (by the way, it can be fixed, free, by the hour - different, both for each employee, department, and for everyone. In this regard, the program is flexible);
  4. then the work schedule is set: working hours, break, days off (numbers 4 and 5);
  5. save the data (number 6 in the screenshot below).

In order to rename a specific employee (and when they are connected, they will be displayed as the name of the PC), you need:

  1. first select it in the column on the left, in the company structure (number 1 in the screenshot below);
  2. then ask his full name (2);
  3. indicate the position (3);
  4. indicate phone number (4);
  5. specify the department (if you have created several of them);
  6. specify the schedule and working days, save the data.

By the way, to add a department to "Office metric" you just need to press one button - "Add / Add department" (located at the bottom, on the left of the main program window - see the screen below).

Analysis of reports

To see in detail what, how long, when, etc., a particular employee in the company was engaged - just select him from the list on the left.

In the tab "overview" general information about productive, unproductive time (by the way, until the program is configured to the end, productive time - a very relative concept).

For a more specific productivity analysis - there is a special. tab "Productivity" : here it is displayed minute by minute how much time and how it was spent (in order for the data in this tab to be reliable on which you can rely, you must first configure the "Content" tab, about it below).

In the tab "content" click "show table" , and you will see all the programs that were open during the user's work.

Next, you can set for each program - whether it refers to productive work (for example, for an editor, Word - will be a productive program, for an accountant 1 C, unproductive for everyone - WinAmp).

By the way, in addition to specifying specific applications, you can even set the sites, which of them relate to productive time, which are not.

In general, here you just need to spend some time compiling white / black lists (then it will be much easier to analyze the work of many employees).

By the way, tab "Content / Show Chart" - quite well allows you to evaluate the work of an employee as a whole: what he was doing. As you can see in the screenshot below, my main work time on a PC is working in the Chrome browser.

Tab "Activity" can be very useful to quickly view your most productive hours of work.

The "Timing" tab will allow you to see the minute-by-minute chronology of work on the controlled PC: you can estimate what exactly the person was doing, say, after spending an hour or two in Chrome.

Well, and the last tab "Report card" : Over time, numbers (hours worked) will be displayed next to each day. By clicking on a specific day, you will find out in detail how many people worked (and how they worked), you will be able to evaluate the full statistics and analyze it (approximately what I gave in 5-7 screenshots above).

I devoted an entire article to monitoring employees, and now I want to say a few words in their defense 😎.

For some reason, many managers (especially of the old school) pay little attention to such a parameter as work efficiency (number of work done, number of resolved issues).

For example, an employee can sit all day only in the necessary programs (it seems to be a fine fellow), and do much less than the one who worked only a couple of hours (according to any metrics).

therefore, in my opinion, everywhere you need to approach in a comprehensive manner. Yes, of course, it is good to know who, what, and when is busy in the workplace, but you also need not forget about the employee's efficiency ... 👌

In general, of course, there are a lot of programs for monitoring employees: among them, as quite successful solutions, there are not so many. I will list a few products that I got acquainted with.

Kickidler

Nice and convenient schedules, recording of employee actions (step by step). In addition, it is possible to monitor all employees online! During testing, I noticed one feature - the program slows down, often freezes. In general, there are problems ...

Time doctor

There is a free version. Multifunctional, a lot of reports and graphs (something in between).

CleverControl

An excellent program for monitoring employees. In many ways it is similar to the "Office metric", except that the reports are even more detailed. True, the program is designed for a more prepared user.

Stakhanovets

In my humble opinion, the program is not for the control of employees, but for covert espionage. And the product is not so convenient, until you figure it out, more than one hour of time will pass ...

CrocoTime

Quite a good program. It is aimed at controlling a large number of PCs (in my opinion) - from 30 machines or more (moreover, even after installation on several hundred machines, it does not slow down and reports come and are processed on time).

Disadvantage: a problem with setting up a proxy server (in general, for a novice user, I would not recommend it).
