Play Market - server error: 3, 8, 20, 403, etc.

Good day everyone!

Despite the fact that the Play Market is a fairly reliable thing, failures and errors happen with it (not so long ago I ran into it myself ... 😢).

And it is at this moment, by the way, that you realize that the smartphone has become very "cut down": after all, you can neither update nor download any applications ...

In general, errors when receiving data from the Play Market server can occur for a number of reasons: due to a system failure, incorrect time zone settings, invalid data in the cache, problems with the download manager, etc. This I mean that by clicking on the universal checkbox, you can fix the problem - there is simply no ... 👌

Nevertheless, by going through a series of consecutive steps, in most cases, you can quickly fix the problem on your own (without resorting to the help of services). Actually, today's note will be about eliminating the causes of Play Marketa failures and errors ...

👉 By the way!

If you urgently need to update (download) any application, then this can also be done using the Play Market analogs.

What to do if a server error occurs in the Play Market

👉 Restart your device, check your internet connection

Despite the banal advice, I still recommend restarting your phone first. The fact is that restarting the phone clears part of the cache, applications and services will be restarted, and the Internet connection will also be established again. All this together often resolves the issue.

Note: to call the system menu, like the screenshot below, hold down the power button for 3-5 seconds. If you don't have a reset button, just turn off your phone.

Reboot your smartphone

After the system is rebooted, I would recommend checking the quality of the Internet connection. How to do this is described in one of my previous instructions (link below).

Note: if you use Wi-Fi, try to turn it off for a while and work with Play Market using 3G / 4G mobile internet.

👉 Pay attention to the error code

If, when connecting to the Play Market, you see not just an error, but also its code, pay attention to this. In some cases, this code can tell you where to look for the cause.

I will give the most common error codes:

  1. 0 - the phone does not support the application (most often it is associated with the installation of the latest application. Try uninstalling it, then clear the cache from the Play Marketa and Google Play services, and restart the phone (more on this later in the article));
  2. 3, 8, 20 - this error code occurs after the update, indicates their incorrect installation (as a rule, it is enough to erase the updates from the Play Market, more on this later in the article);
  3. 403 - this code is most often associated with an unstable internet connection, cache overflow;
  4. 410, 413 - refused to install and update applications (the code says almost nothing);
  5. 492 - there is a problem with the application cache;
  6. 498 - the code indicates that the connection or application download was interrupted (for example, antivirus, or an unstable Internet connection);
  7. 919 - applications are not loaded for an unknown reason (also does not say anything);
  8. 923 - no synchronization with your Google account, the cache is full, there is no free space;
  9. [RPC: S-7: AEC-0], [DF-SA-01] - occur after updating the application (most often due to an incorrect cache or a crash in the Google account);
  10. [RH-01], [RPC: S-3] - access to the server information is not possible (due to an error when transmitting data packets from the server to your device. It may indicate incorrect date and time settings).

👉 Check date, time, time zone

In the date and time settings section, check if you have set the correct time zone, current date, city (location). Because of this "nonsense", some applications (special services Google, Yandex) may work with malfunctions and errors.

Note: after changing the parameters related to date and time, restart your smartphone.

👉 Clear the Play Market cache

To clear the cache of the Play Market application - open the Android settings, go to the section "Apps and notifications / Apps" and select it from the list. See the example in the screenshot below (👇).

Then go to subsection "Memory" and clear the cache.

Note: if clearing the cache does not help, try also resetting (erasing) the Play Market data.

👉 Clear the cache of the Google Play service

A similar operation must be done for the application "Google Play Services" ... It can also be found in the list of applications (example in the screenshots below 👇).

👉 Disable antivirus protection for a while

If an antivirus is installed on your phone, try disabling it for the duration of diagnostics and searching for reasons (or remove it if the standard options do not provide for disabling).

*

Note: the fact is that the antivirus "monitors" all connections, downloaded files, and often blocks "everything suspicious". Sometimes services like Google Play also fall under this distribution ...

👉 Disable sync (temporarily)

Confused function synchronization can sometimes lead to Play Market errors. To fix this, try the following:

  1. go to the Android settings in the section "Accounts / Google" and disable the synchronization of all items that will be presented there (Chrome, Gmail, etc.);
  2. then you should restart the smartphone;
  3. after that, enter the same section again and enable everything that was previously disabled;
  4. reboot the smartphone again and check the functionality.

👉 Reset phone settings

In some hopeless cases, when a lot of errors have accumulated in the system, the phone has been infected with viruses, adware - there is nothing left but to reset its settings to the factory settings. This can be done quite simply: go to the Android settings, select the section "System / Backup & Restore / Factory Restore" .

Note: when you reset the settings, all your installed applications, contacts, documents, photos, etc. data will be deleted. Save everything you may need afterwards in advance.
