Perhaps the matter is in the version of Windows OS (or even some errors), but if you answer "with a swoop", then I am more inclined to lack driver on the joystick (10 by default finds and installs drivers for most devices, unlike 7 ...).

Driver availability
Usually, the "new" Windows 10 OS automatically installs drivers for most joysticks (which cannot be said about other OS). But in some cases this may not happen ...
In any case, I recommend going to the 👉 device manager and see if there are any devices with exclamation marks in it (for example, in the 👇 "Other devices" ).

Whether the joystick is visible by means of Windows OS
For such a check, we need to open the tab device and printer management (to do this, you can use the 👉 control panel, or press Win + R, and use the command control printers ).
