How to turn off notifications in Windows 10 (pop up in the bottom corner of the screen)

Good day!

You sit to yourself, watch a movie / listen to music / think about something ... And then "ding-ding", an annoying sound is heard and some notification from Windows 10 appears in the lower corner of the screen ... 😢

In my opinion, the OS developers implemented their appearance extremely unsuccessfully, in the same Windows 7 there was no such thing (no intrusive sounds, no notifications on top of other windows).

It is not surprising that "such" notifications annoy and annoy many (including me). I think that it would not be superfluous to turn them off for good, and work normally in a calm atmosphere. Is not it? 😉

Actually, in this article I will give some tips for solving this problem. By the way, please note that the problem can be solved in different ways (just some may not work, and much more depends on the version and build of your system).

So...

*

How to get rid of and disable notifications permanently

Tip 1. Quickly turn off everything unimportant

If you click on the "notification icon" in the Windows tray, you can leave only priority (and important) notifications in the menu that appears! Of course, everything else will not be shown. I think most users are more than happy with it. 👌

Note: see my example in the screenshot below 👇, if you do the same, then Windows 10 will stop distracting you with various "nonsense".

Priority only!

Tip 2. Set Windows options

The next recommendation is also quite "obvious": open Windows options (combination of buttons Win + ior START / parameters).

Next, you need to go to the section "System" (see the screen below 👇).

System

After open the subsection "Notifications and actions" : in it you can enable / disable showing notifications both in full and from specific applications.

Notifications and actions

Apart from this, also pay attention to the tab "Focusing attention" : there you can only allow notifications from alarms, or even set a time interval when nothing and no one can disturb you! 👇

System - focusing attention

However, I note right away that although these options are in the parameters of the OS itself, they work (sometimes) "out of hand", and even after disabling notifications, they may appear.

Therefore, if in your case this advice does not work, resort to the methods below.

*

Tip 3. Use the Group Policy Editor

This method is one of the most reliable and effective, it allows you to remove all notifications "in one fell swoop".

The only drawback: the Group Policy Editor cannot be opened in all versions of Windows (for example, it is not available in home versions). Therefore, here it is either to update Windows, or to reinstall it.

*

To open the Group Policy Editor you need to:

  1. press a combination of buttons Win + R (to make the window appear "Run" );
  2. enter commandgpedit.msc and press Enter.

gpedit.msc - launch the group policy editor

Then you should go to the section "User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Start Menu and Taskbar" .

Next, find the parameter in it "Remove notifications and notification center icon" , open it and turn it on. Save the settings and start using the system "calmly" ...

Tip 4. For those who turned off notifications, but they still appear

It happens that the actions performed above do not give any result: notifications still appear ...

In this case, check if you have installed any applications that can "show" these same notifications.

Sometimes they are not so easy to identify, especially if there are no "identification" marks on the notifications. At least pay attention to when they started to appear, and then sort your list of applications by date and see what you installed last.

👉 Help!

To see a list of installed applications, go to the control panel (how to open it in Windows 10) and open the "Programs and Features" section (see the screen below).

Sort apps by installation date

By the way, all installed applications are not always displayed in the control panel, so it makes sense to use special utilities. For example CCleaner or IObit Uninstaller.

PS

If you also see pop-up push notifications in the browser (Chrome, Opera, etc.), I recommend that you also read another of my previous posts (link below).

Additions on the topic, criticism, etc., as usual, are welcome ...

Happy work!
