Now you can find hundreds of video formats on the web (and, unfortunately, many of them are not supported by mobile gadgets, some kind of editors, etc.). I'm not even talking about the fact that uncompressed video can take up a lot of hard disk space ...
To correct this misunderstanding, one of the best options would be to convert problem videos to MP4... This format, although not new, is very popular and, in my opinion, is already seriously pushing back AVI ...
What converting video to MP4 gives:
- firstly, this format is supported by most players, TV, PC and mobile gadgets: iPhone, iPad, Samsung, PSP, HTC, etc .;
- secondly, the compression ratio is much higher than that of many other options (for example, a movie from a DVD can be compressed 2-3 times without losing quality! *);
- thirdly, when watching videos of this format (especially in 4K), there are much less glitches and freezes of the player (as is the case when working with WMV or MKV);

STEP 1: choosing a converter

STEP 2
After installing and running the converter, click on the add button and select the desired videos (which need to be converted to MP4).

In my example, I added 2 videos. Please note that opposite each (on the right) a rectangle appears with the video format into which it will be compressed. Click on this rectangle to select the required codec.

Then, in the "MPEG4" section, set the desired template (as a rule, MP4 HD (H.264) is most often used now).

Repeat the same procedure for each added clip.
STEP 4
After that, you can manually set the resolution and size of the video that the video will have after conversion (use the "Quality" button, see the screen below).

By clicking on the button "Video settings" you can use the built-in editor: rotate the image 90-180 degrees, cut off anything unnecessary, divide into parts, etc.

Next, you need to specify the folder where the processed videos will be saved and click on the button "Convert" .

If you have completed everything correctly, the encoding process will start. Its time depends on the performance of your PC, the length of the clips, the original video format, etc.
